CCM names Sendeka party spokesperson
Ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) secretary general Abdulrahman Kinana yesterday named Christopher Ole Sendeka (pictured) as the party’s new spokesperson.
Briefing reporters on the appointment, Kinana said Sendeka will be
working under the National Executive Committee secretary for Ideology
and Publicity Nape Nnauye. The move is meant to provide room for Nnape
to execute his duties as the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and
Sports. Speaking soon after being named the party’s spokesperson,
Sendeka lauded President John Magufuli for his endeavours to restore
discipline in public service as well as boosting government revenues.
He said the 2015/2020 CCM manifesto was very clear and was meant to
restore discipline and responsibility in public service, noting that
what President Magufuli was doing was within the party’s manifestos that
detail the needs of many Tanzanians.
The former lawmaker used the platform to urge party members and
Tanzanians in general to support the President’s efforts to ensure the
well-being of the country.
The 52-year-old Sendeka who was the Member of Parliament for
Simanjiro Constituency in Manyara Region since 2010 failed to gather
enough votes to retain the seat in last year’s General Election. The
CCM maverick politician was defeated by the Opposition Chadema’s James
Ole Millya. Ole Sendeka garnered 27, 206 votes against 41, 420 votes
amassed by Ole Millya.
